Adoption
News!
Kitt has finally had the perfect bird come into her life -
"Alex", a 4 year old male Senegal parrot who was greatly loved by a client of
ours. Due to relocation problems, Alex needed a new home and Kitt's heart was
stolen. We have so much enjoyed going through this process with her! (6/03)
Patti has added yet another (and presumably the last!) bird to her flock.
"Bogie" is a male Congo African Grey who also made his way into her heart and
home through a client at Avian Suites. Bogie had picked many of his feathers
out, and despite the excellent medical evaluation and therapy, continued to
pick. The owner's made a painful yet loving decision to try another environment
to see if it would make a difference. Patti is happy to report that he has much
feather regrowth, is chatty and interacts very well with the rest of the
Christie flock. Feather picking is such a complicated issue, and there rarely is
one pat answer to "fix it". Sometimes things work well for a period of time and
then the picking starts again. Time will tell. For now, he is doing great!
(6/03).
Traecy has become "mom" to her 2nd bird, Greta (formerly known as Gretzky).
Greta is a female Timneh African Grey. She had been a boarding client and the
previous owner had unexpected changes in her life and was no longer able to
devote the time to Greta that she deserved. After months of considering all
possibilities for her feathered companion, she decided a new home would be in
Greta's best interest. Traecy's other bird, Tiki (female Senegal parrot) isn't
particularly impressed but tolerates the competition well! Traecy's daughter
Brynn just loves both the birds and is such an incredibly sensitive and
respectful toddler with both Tiki and Greta.
